Area 6 Drill Meet

The Grady High School Knight Battalion Drill Team competed at the Area 6 (state qualifying) Drill Meet on Saturday, 4 February 2012.

The members of the Grady High School drill team competed at the Area 6 drill meet and received many awards, which qualifies them to compete in the state drill meet later this year. Grady participated in 10 events and received awards for nine, not including two individual awards that were received in a competitive game.

Overall, we would like to congratulate the Knight Battalion drill team for a job well done. We would like to give special recognition for exceptional work to the following commanders: Sergeant Major Brianna Johnson for receiving first place with her female color guard, Master Sergeant Kylah Clark for receiving first place with her female armed squad, Captain Tia Borrego for receiving first place with her female unarmed platoon, Captain Stayce Evans for receiving first place with his unarmed squad, Major Nick McFarlin for receiving first place with his unarmed platoon, Master Sergeant April King for receiving second place with her female unarmed squad, Master Sergeant Titus Zeigler for receiving second place with his armed squad, Captain Jasmine Russell for receiving third place with her female armed platoon, and Second Lieutenant Malcolm Baldwin for receiving fourth place with his armed platoon.

We would like to congratulate the following individuals: Major Nick McFarlin for receiving first place in armed knock-out and Second Lieutenant Travis Patrick for receiving second place in armed knock-out.

We would also like to congratulate and commend Lieutenant Colonel Jewel Battle for her hard and exceptional work as drill team and battalion commander.

Overall, the Grady Knight Battalion performed phenomenally at the Area 6 drill competition, despite many difficulties and tribulations. The commanders of the mentioned events will progress to compete in the state finals.
