October 20, 2012
By ANNETTE KEIP of Grimsley Senior High School

The Grimsley girls team made an excellent showing at regionals. They advanced two doubles teams and one singles to state comptetition next weekend in Raleigh. The team of Majdou lavoie and Alex Silver won the regional doubles title beating a team from RJReynolds in the final. Julia Hamrick and Carolina Choa played for the 3rd seed barely getting edged by a team from Northwest in a third set. They to will be advancing as the 4th seed in the region. Astrid Pascua finished fourth in the regionals after two loses to two very good Page players. The singles title was taken by a player from RJ Reynolds.

Earlier in the weekend Mary hamrick and Lauren Parko played an excellent match before succombing to the eventual runners up in the tournament. They definantly showed the future of Grimsley is in good hands.

I hope you will all join me in wishing these girls good luck as they advance to the state finals of the individulas next week.
