7th Grade Girls Finish with a Win

The 7th grade girls basketball team took on the Maharishi Pioneers on Thursday, Dec. 17 in Stockport comming away with the win by a score of 30-12. The Warriors never trailed in this game jumping out to an early lead of 14-4 after the first quarter. "They couldn't seem to handle our press," commented coach Plecker. The Pioneers made a run through the second quarter pulling the score to 16-10 at the half. The Warrior defense matched their offense through the second half as they pulled away to finish the game at 30-12.
Leading scorers for this game were Courtney Hervey with 8, Sarah Frey had 6, Rachel Warrick, Jenna Thornburg, and Alison Dickenson each had 4, and Mariah Giberson and Jamie Nelson each added 2.
This game marked the end of the 2009 season with Van Buren posting wins against Harmony, Cardinal and Maharishi. Losses came at the hands of Pekin, WACO, and Harmony. The Warriors finish with a respectable mark of 4 wins and 5 losses.
