Home » Girls' Basketball NewsVB 7th Grade Defeats CardinalDecember 16, 2009 By Mike Plecker of Van Buren High SchoolThe seventh grade girls basketball team defeated the Cardinal Comets by a final score of 38-11 Tuesday night December 15 in a make up game. The Warriors were able to execute several aspects of their affense and defense in this game and it showed in the final score. "The girls palyed very stingy defense tonight and were able to get their fast break offense going as well," commented coach Plecker. The girls took a 16-6 lead in at halftime and then did not let up in the second half scoring an additional 22 points. The win brings the seacon record to 3-5. Leading scorers for Van buren were Courtney Hervey, Jenna Thornburg, and Jenna Sandry each with ten. Shayla Filson, Maddison Zimmer, Rachel Warrick, and Jamie Nelson each added two.
