Tigers Take Out Frustations on Milan
October 6, 2009 By TJ Young of Scotland Co High School
The Scotland County Tigers were confident that with some offensive execution, and defensive pressure, they would defeat the Wildcats of Milan. However, not in their wildest imagination did they see themselves scoring a school record, 68 points. "Our kids came out the way I expected. We were embarrassed last week, and needed to get the fire back," stated head coach Brent Bondurant.
The Tigers ran for 400 yards and completed the only two passes they threw on the night, one of which was for a touchdown. Six different Tigers made their mark in the scoring column. Cody Taft had three touchdowns followed by Kyle Shelley and Brock Bondurant with two each. Harley Stone, Sabe Sears, and Rod Sears each added one apiece. The JV unit took over after halftime, as the Tigers built a 47-0 lead at the break. Coach Bondurant added that, "never in my wildest dreams could I have seen us scoring 68 points. I've been on that edn of the stick myself, and it is not pleasant. We were running basic plays between the tackles, and they couldn't stop us. Our young kids kept the momentum going."
The Tigers push their overall record to 4-2 with a 1-2 conference mark. The Tigers will play Brookfield, for what looks to be the final meeting between the two schools. The Tigers last defeated Brookfield in 1996. Brookfield brings a quick and aggressive team to the table. The Tigers must stop the Bulldogs slashing running attack, and be able to block a gap shooting defense. "We have a good plan of attack this week. I am excited to get busy in our preparation, and look forward to this weeks challange." |
