SC Vs. Cole Camp
October 6, 2009 By TJ Young of Scotland Co High School
Concerned about the 4 1/2 hour road trip, the 2 p.m. starting time, not to mention it was a Saturday, the Scotland County Tigers overcame a 20-14 halftime deficit to defeat a good Cole Camp Bluebird football team, 34-20. The Bluebirds blew the Tigers out of the water in 2008 by a score of 42-7. However, the Tigers had sweet revenge on this day.
Scotland combined for 388 yards of total offense while holding an explosive Cole Camp offense to less than 300. The Tigers showed some backbone in the second half. The defense overwhelmed Cole Camp. Kyle Shelley led the charge with 17 total tackles. Cody Taft stepped up his game in the third quarter by scoring on a 68 yard run and a 41 yard screen pass, for two of his three touchdowns on the day.
"This was a good win for our kids in the fact that we had to come from behind to get the job done," stated Tiger head football coach Brent Bondurant. "Our halftime adjustments were not really a factor in the second half. The offense and defense just decided to play like their capable of playing. We took over the momentum of the game and never let Cole Camp have it back." |
