Home » Men's Basketball NewsRoadrunners Split Scrimmage with Columbia CollegeOctober 24, 2012 STATE FAIR COMMUNITY COLLEGEThe Roadrunners continued their preparations for the upcoming season with a scrimmage against Columbia College Oct. 17 at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center. The scrimmage consisted of two 20-minute halves and a final 10-minute period.
SFCC was victorious in the first 20-minute half by a score of 38-33. Columbia College won the second 20-minute half 46-36. The teams tied 20-20 in the final 10-minute period.
Sophomore guard Kenny Chery led SFCC in scoring with 21 points in the combined stats. Freshman guard Joe Thomasson contributed 18 points. Sophomore forward Ayo Ojo pitched in with 14 points. Sophomore forward Charles Beard added 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds in the scrimmage. Ojo pulled down six rebounds. Freshman guard Deron Hill and Chery pulled down five rebounds apiece. Chery also led the team in assists, dishing out eight in the scrimmage. Thomasson added five assists in the scrimmage.
"There were some bright spots where we got out into the passing lanes and were able to get some deflections and some turnovers," said Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Thomas. "We did some good things in our half-court offense, but we need to improve defensively."
