Hayden?.........DOUBLE CHECK!

The Lady Raiders slot in the championship game Saturday night in Hayden, gave the ladies a chance at redemption, not only due to their opponent, but also a 4-9 start to the season. Hayden had defeated Hueytown on Friday night to punch their ticket into Saturday nights championship game. The Wildcats had defeated the Lady Raiders by a single point just a couple of weeeks ago while outshooting the Raiders from the free-throw line 39-12. 

As expected the game was a tight one from tip to finish. The Wilcats scored the games first 7 points, but the Raiders would respond and trailed at the half by a single point. The Good Hope girls controlled the flow of the game during the second half and walked out of the gym with a 48-46 win and the 1st place hardware. Another solid defensive effort would spark the ladies to their 8th consecutive victory and give the team their 3rd consecutive Hayden Christmas Classic title. 

Kayla Tillman led the Raiders with 16 points, Wilson added 14 of her own. Goodwin and Scott chipped in 6 points apiece. Henke had 3 points, Bishop 2, and Thomas had 1 point. 

The ladies are clearly playing their best basketball of the season as this team continues to grow each and every game. After a 4-9 start, few believed that this team would be 12-9 and put themselves in position to make runs at more hardware down the road. It's not how you start, it's how you finish! Congrats to the ladies on a fantastic tournament. 

The ladies have some time off before returning to the hardwood to take on Holly Pond on Jan 7th @ 2pm in Good Hope.
