The old adage "hard work pays off" is truly seen in Cara Goodwin!  There probably isn't any athlete in these parts that works harder than Good Hope's ace phenome pitcher!  

The effort has already paid off for the Lady Raiders' star player!

After the AHSAA honored her with 4A Pitcher of the Year honors, the NFCA rewarded her efforts with All-Region First Team honors.

The pile of awards is getting deeper and deeper!

The NFCA announced the 2012 All American First Team today and Cara made the cut!

MaxPreps.com just released it's small school All American list and Goodwin was honored as First Team Pitcher!

Congratulations to K'ra!

We were able to interview Cara and this is what she had to say:

Redd Rider:  Did you ever dream, when you first started playing, that you would be at the level you are today?

Cara: Oh no, I wasn't very good at all!  I got with Josh Johnson and he gets most of the  credit for where I am today!

Redd Rider:  How much work and effort have you put in to establishing your pitching abilities?

Cara:  A lot, I mean I don't even get summers off.  I have played year around since I was 12 years old and I work really hard in the off season with my travel team!

Redd Rider:  How important is the team to you?

Cara:  My team is very important!  I wouldn't be where I am today with them!

Redd Rider:  When you heard you made First Team All American, what went through your mind?

Cara:  I big smile!  It felt really good!  I was excited that I was in the running for it.

Redd Rider:  With all the awards and honors you have already received and the staggering numbers you have put up, do you feel any pressure?

Cara:  Well a little!  I mean next year I know I will have higher expectations and that will put pressure on me.  Right now I'm good.  I don't feel any pressure.

Redd Rider:  If you could sum up your career so far in one word, what word would that be?

Cara:  Can I use 2?

Redd Rider:  Sure

Cara:  Excited and Blessed!
