Looking for something to do this weekend? October 6 & 7, is the Apples, Art, and Antiques Fair in Lexington. In addition to buying food and crafts, come check out artwork made by current and former LHS art students! The exhibit will be open to the public from 6-8pm on Saturday at Welcome Home Realty on Main Street.

 

Register to Vote: Students who are already 18, or who are turning 18 within the next 6 months - Linda Niendick will be here to register students to vote on Tuesday, October 9 during advisory. Students will need to bring an ink pen and their driver's license when they register.

 

Got any extra canned goods at home? Feel like making a difference in your community? Bring nonperishable food items to Mrs. Hahn's room this week. She is taking the food to the food pantry on Friday. They are in special need of peanut butter and mac and cheese boxes.

 

The Young Americans are coming to Lexington November 1st-3rd.  We are the ONLY school in the state of Missouri that they are visiting.  They will be conducting a three-day workshop in which participants will learn over 50 songs and dances, taking classes in voice, dance, performance, improvisation, choral singing and much more. It will conclude with a 2 hour show on the third evening featuring the students and Young Americans for the community. Students interested in participating in the Young Americans Workshop can pick up a registration form in the office. The cost is $57 and scholarships are available. LHS MUSICAL:  Interested in helping backstage of the LHS musical? Come be part of DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, see Miss Yung to sign up.

 

Organizations

FCA Meeting on Friday at 7:00 am in the library.

 

FCA members who are planning to attend Fields of Faith on October 10th, need to sign up with Mrs. Kintz by Friday.

Counselor’s Corner
The PSAT will be offered to Juniors on Wednesday, October 17. The PSAT measures critical reading skills, math problem-solving skills and writing skills. It also gives you a chance to enter the National Merit Scholarship Program. If you would like to take the PSAT, you must sign up with Mrs. Nevels. You must sign up by October 10 or you will not be allowed to take the test. Students will have to pay $14 to take the test.

 

17 year old students interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement, please see Mrs. Nevels about an awesome job opportunity.

 

Sophomores will take the PLAN test Wednesday, October 10, 2012. Last name A-L will test 1-3 hour, and last name M-W will test 5-7 hour.

A representative from the Air Force Reserves will be here during lunch tomorrow.
