Recording Setting Sectional For Swimmer Keaton Dir

SHS senior Keaton Dir advanced to state in both the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle competing at the Rock Island Sectional Saturday, establishing new school records in both events.
In the 100 butterfly, Dir clocked in at 52.82 to win the sectional title, while breaking the previous school record of 54.00 set by Steve Yemm in 2007.
In the 200 free, Dir touched the wall in 3rd place at 1:43.87, surpassing the state qualifying time of 1:45.12, and besting the previous school record of 1:45.04 set by James Wike in 2001.
Dir will be joined at state by junior Cade Coursey, who won the sectional diving competition with a score of 405.20.
Dir and Coursey will begin competition at state Friday (2/28) at Evanston High School.
