4 Warriors Headed to State in Speech

This past Saturday, February 9, Sterling High School hosted the IHSA Sectional for Individual Events (Speech). The SHS Speech Team advanced 4 students in 3 events and placed 6th overall with 26 teams competing. 

Advancing to the State Finals in Peoria this Friday and Saturday, February 15 and 16 are:
• Poetry •
    Hannah Matheney – 1st
• Radio Speaking •
    Zachary Woessner – 2nd
• Humorous Duet Acting •
    Hunter Wolfe & Clarissa Worcester – 3rd

Also qualifying for the final round but not advancing in those events are:
• Oratorical Declamation •
    Hannah Matheney – 4th
• Impromptu Speaking •
    Zachary Woessner – 5th

Next Up:  The state qualifiers compete Friday and Saturday (Feb. 15 and 16) in Peoria.
