Warrior Swimmers 3rd at Conference Meet

The SHS Boys’ Swimming and Diving team placed third at the Northern Illinois Independent Conference Meet in Byron Saturday.  Normal-University won the team title with 280 points.  IMSA was second with 245.5, and SHS next at 178.

 

Keaton Dir and Keanu Interone earned individual conference titles for the Warriors.  Dir won the 500 free (5:05.35), while Interone captured the 100 breast (59.02), setting a new meet record in the process.

 

Dir also placed second in the 200 free (1:48.48).

 

Interone and Dir teamed up with Sam Wike and Andrew Blackburn for a third place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:45.65).

 

Final team standings: 1. Normal U-High 280, 2. IMSA 245.5, 3. Sterling 178, 4. Ottawa 156, 5. Byron 153, 6. Rockford Christian 150.5, 7. Morrison High School 73, 8. Newman 58

 

Next Up: The Warriors compete at the IHSA United Township Sectional Saturday, February 16.
