Home » Boys' Basketball NewsWarriors Fall Short at LPJanuary 12, 2013 Sterling High School
The Golden Warriors (7-10, 2-2) rallied from 11 points down (42-31) late in the third quarter to tie the game at 46 late in the fourth. Alex Soriano nailed a pair of three pointers during the rally, and freshman Sterling Thornton hit a three, and the game-tying two.
But LaSalle-Peru (9-5, 5-0) had an answer, as junior standout Noah Lamboley hit a fall-away jumper on the right baseline to give LP the final two points of the game with five seconds to play. SHS then committed a turnover and fouled. LP missed the front end of a one-and-one, giving Sterling one last chance, but a shot from just inside half-court came up empty as time expired.
Soriano paced Sterling with 10 points. Micah Miller and Zack Everett both added nine points and eight rebounds for the Warriors.
SHS also lost on the sophomore level.
