Warriors Rout Rockford-Christian

The SHS Girls’ Basketball team is in the midst of its longest winning streak of the season.  The Golden Warriors (11-10) won their fourth straight game Thursday with an easy 52-19 win over Rockford-Christian Thursday at Musgrove Fieldhouse.

 

Sterling jumped out the 13-3 lead right out of the gate and never looked back, with senior McKenna Pearson scoring nine of those 13 points.  SHS led 27-6 at halftime, holding RC (9-8) to 8% field goal shooting (2-25).

 

Sterling hit five three-pointers in the second half, with Stephanie Kester hitting three and Raquel Romano a pair.

 

Pearson equaled her career-high with 11 points to lead the way for SHS, Kester added nine and Kiarra Harris eight points, to go along with nine rebounds and four steals.

 

On the sophomore level, Sterling recorded a 40-14 win.

 

Next Up:  The Golden Warriors play a NIB-12 crossover Saturday afternoon (1/12) in Rochelle, before hosting Geneseo (Tuesday), and Geneseo (Friday), and Yorkville (Saturday) next week.
