The SHS Girls’ Basketball team has reached the mid-way point of the NIB-12 West season with an unblemished 5-0 record after a 52-32 win at LaSalle-Peru Tuesday.
Sterling (10-10, 5-0) ended the first quarter on a 12-2 run, and led 23-12 at halftime. The Warriors put the game away with a 10-0 run over the first four minutes of the second half.
Kaitlyn Bauer, Kiarra Harris and Alexis Strong all scored in double figures for the Warriors with 13, 12, and 10 points respectively. Harris had a game-high eight rebounds, and Bauer added seven leading SHS to a 31-21 rebounding advantage.
Sterling recorded 16 assists on 23 field goals, with McKenna Pearson leading the way with six.
On the sophomore level, Sterling dropped a 43-40 decision.
Next Up: The Warriors host Rockford-Christian in a non-conference Thursday, before playing at Rochelle in a NIB-12 crossover Saturday afternoon.
