Warriors Win Ugly Over Ottawa

The SHS Bowling team struggled in its first match of 2013, but still managed to knock off Ottawa 3109-2909 Thursday in Ottawa.  The Golden Warriors swept all three games (1004-981, 1113-956, 992-972), claiming all 10 NIB-12 conference points.

Amber Granzow and Destinee Howard had big games in game two with a scores of 259 and 217 respectively.

The Golden Warriors are now 6-1 in NIB-12 duals.  Coach Dennis Black sizes up the Warriors conference title hopes: “We have 56 points in the conference standings.  Dixon leads with 60 points.  Since each game is worth 2 points, we are essentially 2 games behind.  We must win all twenty points against Sycamore and Streator, and hope that Dixon loses at least 4 point (2 games) and Morris 2 points.  We will be lucky if this happens because Dixon bowls Rochelle and Sycamore at home.  Rochelle is very weak, but Sycamore could be that surprise match.  However, we must bowl Sycamore next week there.  We cannot afford a slip up and if we bowl as we did today, we could lose some points.  Morris bowls DeKalb on the last match of the NIB12 season, and although DeKalb is not the challenger they had been in the past two seasons, they could upset Morris' applecart.  We have hope but not much promise.”

Next Up: The Golden Warriors travel to Sycamore Tuesday (1/8) for a big NIB-12 match, with action beginning at 4:00 p.m.
