Warrior Swimmers Place 4th at Freeport Invite

The SHS Boys’ Swimming and Diving team opened its season with a fourth place finish at the Freeport Invitational Saturday. The Golden Warriors tallied 194 points. DeKalb claimed top honors with 389.
Senior Keanu Interone was Sterling’s lone individual winner, claiming first place in the 100 breast (1:01.41). Interone was also fourth in the 200 individual medley (2:07.44).
Junior Keaton Dir was second in the 500 freestyle (5:10.60), and third in the 200 free (1:54.22).
Sterling also recorded third place finishes in the 400 medley (3:57.84) and 800 freestyle (8:15.50) relay events. Interone and Dir were joined on the 400 medley team by Sam Wike and Blake Ruiz. Nick Mattox replaced Wike on the 800 freestyle team.
Next Up: The Golden Warriors travel to Ottawa Thursday (12/13) for a duel, before competing in the Rockford East Relays Saturday.
