Warriors Fall at Geneseo

The SHS Boys’ Basketball team dropped its NIB-12 West opener Friday in Geneseo, dropping a 58-50 decision to the Maple Leafs.
Sterling (3-3, 0-1) used an 8-0 to end the first half, and the teams went to halftime tied at 20.
Alex Soriano hit three of his four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to keep the Warriors close, but Geneseo was able to pull away from the free throw line down the stretch. The Warriors trailed just 49-47 late.
Geneseo (4-0, 1-0) outscored Sterling 23-6 from the charity stripe.
Soriano paced Sterling with 12 points, followed by Micah Miller with 10 and Tre Whittaker with eight.
Sterling played the game without leading scorer Zach Rehmert, who continues to recover from an ankle sprain.
Next Up: The Golden Warriors travel to Alleman for a non-conference game Tuesday (12/4), before heading to Dixon for a league game Saturday.
