Home » Girls' Volleyball NewsWarriors Cruise Past OttawaOctober 10, 2012 Sterling High SchoolThe SHS Volleyball team moved closer to its second conference championship in the last three years with 25-12, 25-18 win over Ottawa Tuesday at Musgrove Fieldhouse.
Sterling (30-2, 7-0 NIB-12 West) took control of game one early, jumping out to a 4-0 lead, and never trailed the rest of the way. Sterling fell behind early in game two and trailed 12-7 at one point. The Golden Warriors outscored the Lady Pirates 18-6 the rest of the way to claim the victory.
Statistically for the Golden Warriors, Jennifer Rahn had seven kills and three blocks. Kiarra Harris recorded five blocks. Sydney McCaslin dished out nine assists and McKenna Pearson had 12 digs.
With 30 wins, the Golden Warriors are now three away from setting a new school record for single season wins. The 2010 team holds the current record at 32.
Next Up: SHS has three regular season games to go; Thursday (10/11) against Dixon for Senior Night, Oct. 16 at Streator, and Oct. 18 at Geneseo. The Golden Warriors host an IHSA 3A Regional beginning Oct. 22.
