The SHS Football team led winless Streator just 20-15 midway through the third quarter on Homecoming night Friday at Roscoe Eades Stadium, but responded with a pair of touchdowns to record a 34-15 victory.  Sterling has won nine straight and 28 of 31 against Streator.

Sterling led 20-8 at halftime, but Streator scored first in the second half to pull within five.  The Golden Warriors responded with a 37 yard run from Temo Barron to make it 27-15.

On Sterling’s next possession, the Golden Warriors marched 77 yards in 15 plays for another touchdown.  Tanner Morse took it the final six yards for his second touchdown of the game.

Sterling scored first on a blocked punt return for a touchdown from Willie McCormick in the first quarter.  Following a Streator TD and two-point conversion, Morse put the Warriors ahead for good with a 37-yard TD scamper.  SHS scored again quickly after a Streator fumble on a 16-yard run from Cornell Hartz.

On the sophomore level, Sterling (3-3, 2-0) recorded a 23-21 win.

Next Up:  The Golden Warriors (4-2, 2-0) host Geneseo (3-3, 1-1) next Friday night at Roscoe Eades Stadium.
