The SHS football team dropped a 42-0 decision to state-ranked powerhouse Kaneland Friday. Kaneland, #6 in the class 6A AP state rankings, extended its regular season winning streak to 22 games.
After Sterling (2-1) drove 10 plays to open the game, the Warriors turned the ball over on downs. Kaneland scored on a long pass play two plays later, and the rout was on. The Knights (3-0) led 35-0 at halftime.
The Golden Warriors managed less than 100 yards of total offense for the game.
On the sophomore level, Sterling (1-2) lost 14-7.
Next Up: The Golden Warriors return home next Friday (9/14) to host undefeated Rochelle.
