Greetings Parents/Guardians, Faculty & Staff!!
Welcome to 2012 the year of Optimism! The new year has began, resolutions have been made! Often times commitments are not kept because they are unrealistic in that moment of our lives. So rather than making promises we can’t keep let’s focus on those that are in our reach!
Here are a few suggestions:
For our Children: Listen More. Let’s work on Communication Strategies to become effective listeners for them. Establish family meetings at least once a week. Make that the day, no matter what’s going on you will sit down as a family and discuss the latest happenings in your lives and the direction of the family. Set family goals together. “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families” is a great book to reference!
Your Schedule: Take control of your to-do list with an exercise called, “Bag It, Barter It, Better It”. First make a list of all the things in your life that you like and don’t like to do. Then ask yourself whether you really have to do each one. Few things will fall into this category explains Master Certified Coach Jackie Gartman. The rest are choices and there are ways around many of them. Create a space to do what you really want to do in your life. The idea is to move toward things that energize you and away from things that deplete you.
Your Finances:Create a financial plan. When you have a plan you feel better. Begin by identifying your priorities. Such as paying down debt or creating and maintaining a savings. Here are a few suggestions: 1) Get paid your worth & spend less than you earn, 2) stick to a budget (income doesn’t matter), 3) Pay off Credit Card Debt, 4) Contribute to a retirement plan. Just to list a few J The time to Budget is NOW!
I hope these things assist you starting off a Successful New Year! May you receive Blessings in Abundance on this day and those moving forward!! Check the "Document" section to read the January 2012 E-Newsletter for more details, including 2011 Highlights and Upcoming Events!
