Community Services encourages the three Cs: Compassion, Commitment and Comeraderie! It provides experience, promotes personal growth and self-esteem, begins or adds to your work or college resume, strengthens your community, gives you a chance to give back and it allows YOU to make a difference!
Upcoming Community Service projects at South Oak Cliff High School are Bear Green Recycle Team and Fuel Up to Play 60!
Bear Green Recycle Team:
Good recycling habits start now! It has so many benefits! Recycling is a great way to save energy and conserve the environment, it reduces waste products in landfills, lessen global warming and reduce pollution, and it even helps you save money! Students will begin collecting recycle materials from the GREENrecycle bins in teacher’s classrooms and during your lunch period, at least twice a week. Then dump the collection into the big BLUE outdoor recycle bin in the parking lot behind the cafeteria! Recycle Days will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays or Mondays & Wednesdays! Sign up now.
Fuel Up to Play 60 (FUTP60):
FUTP60 promotes physical fitness and healthy eating. Students will create interactive ways to promote healthy eating and getting their school involved in 60 minutes a day! You will create posters and implement activities monthly, such as Taste Test Thursday/Tuesday, Got milk to promote the use of dairy products, Drink Milk & Recycle, Powder Puff Game, Walking Club, etc. Get a head start and set up your account now at http://www.futp60.com/ !
