Taking it to the Streets is a week-long workshop bringing 20 young artists, age 13-16 to Dallas Contemporary. In keeping with our mission of educating the public about contemporary art and artists as well as outreach to young audiences.

This program engages students in a creative experience exploring all aspects of a working artists' process, from inspiration and research to construction, design, and exhibition. A master artist, local artists, and teaching assistant will lead daily sessions.

The program will consist of three phases. The first phase will be an introduction to a professional graffiti artist/ master teacher. Phase two will engage students in an exploration of basic graffiti techniques such as silkscreen, stencil, and collage. The master teacher will facilitate daily sessions providing one-on-one critiques of works in progress and overall group critiques.
