BEAR GREEN RECYCLE TEAM GOES TO EARTH DAY DALLAS!!
April 24, 2012By Twymeika Hill-Jones of South Oak Cliff High School
The Bear Green Recycle Team is a South Oak Cliff Initiative to get students involved in community service and doing their part in saving the planet!! Every Monday & Wednesday the students visit classrooms, empty recycle bins and dispose of them properly!!
Sunday, April 22nd, our students participated in Earth Day at the Fair Park! They provided service at the African-American Success Initiative booth spreading the word not only about their experience with AASI at SOC High, but the benefits and importance of recycling, as well!! They had a blast at the park participating in various activities including yoga! There goodie bags were filled with the latest information and even packets of seeds to plant trees and flowers to continue making our world an even more beautiful and 'safe' place to live!!
Later that evening, we ventured off to celebrate a little more at Earth Day Oak Cliff at Lake Cliff Park! Our students participated in the live entertainment which included African Dance! A fewer of our AASI students are apart of the Sigma Omicron Chi Step Team and they were allowed to give an "Earth Day" tribute on the stage!!!
Needless to say, even though we had a full day, we had a blast doing it!!! Until next time, check out a few photos in the attached album and also visit www.earthdaydallas.org !!

The event will utilize approximately 600,000 square feet of both indoor and outdoor event space. EDD’s footprint will easily accommodate the 600 exhibitors and 75,000 guests anticipated to attend this year’s event.
The heart of the festival is the Eco Expo, and exhibitors will use their presence to promote their achievements as green leaders, and teach attendees how to take environmentally responsible action by better utilizing available resources, switching to eco-friendly products, or joining their organizations.
