LADY KNIGHTS FALL TO NORTHWESTERN
August 25, 2014Archbishop Alter High School
The Alter Lady Knights Soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss to the Northwestern Warriors on Monday evening. The Knights could not get going in the first half and the motivated Warriors took advantage, scoring on a breakaway goal about midway into the half. The Knights continued to battle, but Northwestern scored their second goal shortly before half on a nice back heeled shot from close distance to take a 2-0 lead.
The Knights attack put some pressure on the Warriors in the second half and held the Warriors scoreless. Finally, with a few minutes to go, the Knights got on the board as senior Megan Foster played a ball to Sophomore Libby Bazelak who ran on and placed a shot past the Northwestern keeper. The Knights could not get the equalizer and the Warriors ended up on top.
The Knights will attempt to rebound against a tough Bishop Fenwick team in a GCL league match in Middletown on Thursday night at 7:00. The JV Knights will also need to rebound Thursday as they fell to Northwestern by a score of 4-2. Both Alter teams move to 1-1 on the young season.
