Lady Knights Defeat the Wildcats in Sectional

The Alter Lady Knights took on the #10 seeded Wildcats from Franklin in the Sectional Semi-Finals at Lebanon HS on Wednesday, February 19th. Both teams got off to a slow start with the first basket being made by Alter at 5:43. The teams traded baskets with the score even at 6-6 at 3:54. Alter went on a 5-0 run over the next minute and finished out the first quarter ahead 15-9. The Lady Knights came out strong in the second quarter going on a 10-0 run to start the quarter and held a 25-9 advantage at 6:27. Alter turned up the defensive pressure and pushed the tempo outscoring Franklin 28-6 in the second quarter to hold a 43-15 lead at halftime.
The Lady Knights kept focus in the third quarter starting with a 9-4 run and the Wildcats were never able to get back in the game. Alter outscored Franklin 24-6 in the third to hold a commanding 67-21 after three quarters. All Lady Knights enjoyed playing time and all thirteen players got in the scoring column.
Leading the way for Alter were Emma Bockrath with 15 points and Libby Bazelak with 14 points, 6 steals, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Also contributing were Braxtin Miller with 11 points and Hayley Combs with 10 points and 5 rebounds.
The Lady Knights advance to the Sectional Finals to be held on Saturday, February 22nd at Lebanon HS at 1:30. Please make note of the time change.
