January 26, 2014By Daniel Morrison of Archbishop Alter High School
Every year, Alter and Fairmont square off in football and basketball to determine the dominant team of Kettering. The Knights traveled to Trent Arena, Home of the Firebirds on Saturday night. The varsity got off to a quick start and lead 41-24 at the half with subs coming in with 2 minutes left in the 1st half. However, Fairmont stormed back in the 2nd making it a game by outscoring the Knights in the 3rd quarter 23-13. Clutch free throws in the 4th quarter by Nate Burger, Michael Schwieterman, and Keegan Saben allowed Alter to defeat the Firebirds 73-69.
