Sweep Falls Short Against Centerville

Alter varsity fell to the Elks on Tuesday night at Trent Arena 67-61. Alter shot very well from the floor but size advance from Centerville made the difference. Alter led 14-11 early before trailing by 9 with 2 seconds to go in the 1st half before Nate Burger made a trey as time expired to cut the score to 39-33. Sharp shooting by both the Knights and Elks in the 2nd half made it a close game before Alter was forced to foul, sending the Elks to the line and they made six free throws in the last minute to win. Michael Schwieterman and Nate Burger both dropped 17 points. Freshman Keegan Saben put up 16 points for the Knights.
The freshman and JV teams both tallied wins. The freshman team cruised over the Elks 50-29. The JV team trailed by 5 at the half before outscoring the Elks 30-11 in the 2nd half to win 47-33. Dom Laravie led the JV squad with 12 points and Joe Laravie added 10 points. The frosh are 11-1 and the JV team is 10-4.
