Another Buzzer Dooms Knights

On December 7th, the Alter Knights squared off against the visiting CJ Eagles in a home game being played at Trent Arena. Alter lead by two after the 1st quarter before the game was tied at the half 32 all. CJ lead Alter by 4 with under two minutes to go in regulation before the Knights tied the game on a 2 point jumper and two free throws. With 17 seconds to go, Alter got a steal and drove down the court with the game tied and started to kill the clock. CJ fouled and Alter would pass the ball in bounds where Michael Schwieterman scored on a short jumper with .1 seconds to go and Alter would have the lead by 2. 0.5 seconds was added onto the clock as CJ would try to one last attempt to score. Sophomore Jacob Harrison of CJ threw a spiral down the court and Aaron Hammond would catch the ball and tap it in to force the game into OT. CJ would hit a big three and make 4 clutch free throws to defeat the Knights in OT 64-59. Schwieterman led the Knights with 15 points and Nate Burger added 14 points for Alter. The Knights are 2-7 and 0-4 in GCL play. The squad has lost 6 games by two possessions or less including 2 games in OT, and one game at the buzzer. They play Carroll this Friday night at Carroll. Tip off is 7:30pm for varsity.
The freshman team remains on top in the GCL co-ed as they improve their record to 7-1. They defeated CJ 49-42. JP Schimpf scored 14 points and Ryan Markoff had 15 points. The JV team improved to 7-3 as the posted another win by defeating the CJ JV squad 30-28.
