New Year: New Start

With a new year beginning, the Alter Knights look to get off to a new start after struggling their las four games. After losing to Fenwick 52-48, the Knights traveled down to St. Xavier and lost 58-43 to the Bombers. The freshman and JV teams were handed their first loss as they were defeated 54-37 and 39-36.
The varsity squad traveled to Atlanta to play in the St.Pius X Christmas Classic. The Knights played in two games and were defeated by McGill-Toolen from Alabama 54-48 and by River Ridge of Georgia 66-63. The team trailed River Ridge by 15 points before coming within three. Junior guard Michael Schwieterman had a double double with 24 points and 11 rebounds. The Knights fall to 2-6 but look to come back next week against CJ.
The JV team played in the Lakota West tournament and was put in the toughest section consisting of Princeton, St.Xavier, and Trotwood. The team fell to Princeton 50-45 as a late rally fell short after they trailed by 19 entering the 4th quarter. They played St.Xavier the next day and let a lead slip by as they lost in a very heated game 55-53. Joe Laravie led the scoring by shooting 7 of 10 from the field including 5/5 on treys. Transfer Michael Pryce and inured player Greg Romer hope to playing soon for the JV team. Pryce has to sit out 11 games after switching from Bellbrook and will be able to play against Carroll. Greg Romer has been out with a broken wrist since late November.
