Knights Rebound and Stop Urbana
December 15, 2013By Daniel Morrison of Archbishop Alter High School
After coming off a tough loss the night before to Badin, the Knights came back home to take on the Hillclimbers of Urbana. Alter took advantage of turnovers that led to points and Alter led 30-25 at the half. In the 2nd half, guards Nate Burger and Nick Coleman were able to find Kraig Howe open frequently under the basket and passed the ball enabling Howe to score. Urbana would come back and cut the lead to 59-53 before draining a three with under twenty seconds to go to trail by three, 59-56. Urbana would throw up a last second shot that bounced off the rim and the Knights would win the game with a final score of 59-56. Nate Burger, Kraig Howe, Nick Coleman, and Michael Schwieterman all scored in double digits.
Congratulations to JV coach, Mike Freshwater, on his 100th win in the Alter basketball program. His JV squad won big to improve to 4-0. The team beat Urbana 63-28. Joe Laravie lead the team with 13 points. Freshman J.P. Schimpf and Chris Finke combined for 13 assists in the win.
The next game is Friday, December 20th against the Fenwick Falcons at Fenwick. Go Knights!
