EARLHAM'S SEASON ENDS AT NCAA'S

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — In a battle of ranked squads, the Earlham College men's tennis team
dropped a 5-2 decision on Friday to Coe College in the opening round of the NCAA
Division III National Tournament.
Ranked 10th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Men's
Central Region Poll, the Quakers (16-7) began the contest with a 2-1 lead after the
doubles competition in the affair hosted by Washington University.
Anton Bartashevich and Jack Ventura-Cruess beat Noah Sprinkel and Riley Galbraith
8-5 at No. 1 to tie the match at 1-1.
Phillip Locklear and Hank Levin followed with a 9-7 win over Ryan Hickman and
Michael Janssen at No. 2 to give the Quakers a 2-1 advantage.
The Kohawks (25-7), ranked at the 8th spot in the region, won four straight matches
in singles to take the contest and end Earlham's season.
