Rose-Hulman Earns Third HCAC Commissioner's Cup

GREENWOOD, IN – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has captured the ninth annual
Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Commissioner’s Cup. The award is given to
the athletic department that registers the most all-sports points in both men’s and
women’s athletics during the academic year. Rose-Hulman garnered 128.5 total points
during the 2013-14 campaign, becoming the first school to win the award three times.
The Engineers earned 75.0 points in men’s competition during the year, earning the
men’s trophy for the sixth time in seven years. Rose-Hulman finished fourth in the
HCAC Women’s All-Sports race with 53.5 points.
Rose-Hulman registered four conference championships during the academic year. The
Engineers won titles in football, men’s basketball, men’s indoor track & field, and
men’s outdoor track & field. The Rose-Hulman athletic programs were consistent
across the board, claiming second-place finishes in men’s cross country, men’s
soccer, men’s tennis, and women’s golf.
The Engineers finished 7.5 points ahead of second-place Hanover College in the
Commissioner’s Cup standings. The Panthers finished with 121.0 total points.
Franklin College finished third in the standings with 107.3 points and was followed
by Transylvania University with 106.2 points. Manchester University placed fifth
with 95.5 points, while Defiance College (86.0), Anderson University (82.1), College
of Mount St. Joseph (71.2), Bluffton University (61.0), and Earlham College (52.2)
rounded out the standings.
The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology athletic department is led by Athletic
Director Jeff Jenkins.
The 2013-14 academic year was the ninth for the Commissioner’s Cup. The award is
