RICHMOND, Ind. — Six players and the coach of the Earlham College men's tennis team
were honored on Tuesday by the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

The Quakers claimed two of the major awards. Anton Bartashevich was named the HCAC
Most Valuable Player for the second year in a row, while Chauncey Nixon was selected
as the HCAC Coach of the Year.

In addition to Bartashevich, Phillip Locklear, Hank Levin and Jack Ventura-Cruess
were each All-HCAC First Team. Scott Lawrence and Andrey Gavrilov were both on the
All-HCAC Honorable Mention list. Levin was also on the All-HCAC Sportsmanship Team.

Bartashevich is ranked 19th on the most recent singles list from the Intercollegiate
Tennis Association Division III Men's Central Region Poll. He was 7-0 at No. 1
singles against HCAC foes, while posting the same record in the top doubles position
with partner Ventura-Cruess. The duo is ranked 15th in the region.

Nixon led Earlham to a 16-6 mark with an 8-0 record in the conference in his first
season as the Quakers won their fourth straight HCAC Tournament title last Sunday
with a 5-1 win over Transylvania University.

Ranked 10th in the ITA Division III Men's Central Region poll, the Quakers play
against No. 8 Coe College at Washington University in the NCAA tourney on Friday at
10 a.m.
