INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The 2014 men’s tennis season will come to a close this weekend,
as the HCAC championships will be held this Saturday and Sunday in Indianapolis.
The tournament will be held at the West Indy Racquet Club in Indianapolis.

Earlham College will look to claim the school’s fourth straight HCAC tournament
championship and earn the conference’s automatic qualifier for the NCAA tournament
that begins May 9.

The Quakers (14-6, 8-0 HCAC) won the regular season crown for the fourth consecutive
year and have won four-straight matches heading into the tourney.

Earlham has been led by junior Anton Bartashevich (Moscow, Russia/International) at
the No. 1 singles and doubles position this spring, posting a 14-0 overall
conference record.  Bartashevich is currently ranked as the No. 19 player in the
Central Region by the ITA rankings.  Sophomore Phillip Locklear (Springboro,
Ohio/H.S.) has been solid for the Quakers this spring, boasting a perfect 13-0 HCAC
record at the No. 2 singles position and No. 2 and 3 doubles . The deep Earlham
roster continues with senior Hank Levin (Dallas, Tex./Highland Park) and sophomore
Jack Ventura-Cruess (Placentia, Calif./El Dorado).  The duo has yet to lose a single
HCAC match in singles or doubles action this season.

Rose-Hulman (10-7, 7-1 HCAC) will look to reclaim the tournament title from Earlham
this weekend.  Rose-Hulman and Earlham met back on April 13, with the Quakers
claiming an 8-1 win over the No. 2 Engineers.  Rose-Hulman has been led by the
freshman tandem of  Brandon Benedict (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) and Georges
Adam (Barueri, Brazil/Colegio Pentagono) this spring.  Benedict posted a 7-1
conference mark at the No. 1 singles position and a 7-1 record at No. 1 doubles.
Adam finished 6-2 at No. 2 singles and teamed with Benedict in doubles play.

Action will get underway Saturday morning at 9:00 AM with the championship match
being held Sunday at 10:00 AM.
