DEFIANCE, Ohio — The Earlham College men's track team completed competition on
Saturday in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships at Defiance
Alec Dews was the top performer for the Quakers during the final day of the event.
Dew was third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.23 seconds. He was also part
of the 400-meter relay team that placed fifth.
Travis Smith, Johnnie Fitzpatrick, Malik Reid and Dews posted a time of 44.71 seconds.
Phillip Boone also scored for the Quakers in the high jump. Boone cleared 6'0" to
finish in sixth.
As a team the Quakers were ninth, while the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology won

relay team score during the final day of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic
Conference Championships at Defiance College.
Hannah Franklin placed in both hurdle events. In the 400-meter race, Franklin was
fifth with a time of 1:07.15. She had a time of 16.61 in the 100-meter event to take
Emma Hauser added to her third-place finish in the 10,000-meter run on Friday, as
she was seventh in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:35.26.
JaLissa Watt had a leap of 15'9½" to end up seventh in the long jump.
Emmy Zimmerman was the final individual to score for the Quakers as she was eighth
in the 1,500-meter run with a 5:12.15.
Earlham's 400-meter relay squad of Kiara Scott, Ximena Banegas, Britney Ware and
Kyra Williams finished fifth with a time of 53.87 seconds.
Defiance won the event, while the Quakers finished ninth.
