Earlham College Broadcast SportsBaseball Hitter - Ted Williams, Earlham College
Earlham College's Ted Williams (Harper Woods, Mich./Grosse Point North) led
the Quakers offense last week and has been named the Heartland Collegiate
Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week. The junior outfielder
finished the week 6-for-10 (.600) at the plate as the Quakers swept Johnson
(TN) and suffered a pair of losses to Otterbein. Williams scored six runs
with two home runs, one double, and seven RBI during the week. Earlham
(3-7, 0-0 HCAC) will travel to Roanoke for a three-game series over the
weekend.
Baseball Pitcher - Nate Hube, Earlham College
Earlham College's Nate Hube (Lebanon, Ohio/H.S.) fired the second no-hitter
in Earlham baseball history Saturday and has been named the Heartland
Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week. The sophomore
tallied the no-hitter in a 12-0 win over Johnson (TN) Saturday afternoon.
Hube did not allow a hit and struck out seven in the five inning win,
becoming the second pitcher in Earlham history to accomplish the feat.
Earlham (3-7, 0-0 HCAC) will travel to Roanoke for a three-game series over
the weekend.
Softball Hitter - Katie Clark, Bluffton University
Bluffton University's Katie Clark (New Palestine, Ind./H.S.) led the Beavers
to a 5-3 record during the week and has been named the Heartland Collegiate
Athletic Conference Softball Hitter of the Week. The sophomore finished the
week 13-for-27 (.481) with nine runs scored, four doubles, one triple, one
home run, and 10 RBI, while posting a slugging percentage of .815. The
Beavers (7-3, 0-0 HCAC) return home from Florida and will face Adrian and
Alma over the weekend.
Softball Pitcher - Kayla Owens, Bluffton University
Bluffton University's Kayla Owens (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) went 3-1 in the
circle last week for the Beavers and has been named the Heartland Collegiate
Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week. The junior finished the
week with a phenomenal 0.74 earned run average while holding opponents to a
.215 batting average. Owens tossed 19.0 innings and allowed just two earned
runs with six strikeouts in her four appearances. The Beavers (7-3, 0-0
HCAC) return home from Florida and will face Adrian and Alma over the
weekend.
Men's Tennis - Blake Wareham, Franklin College
Franklin College's Blake Wareham (Carmel, Ind./Newark, NY H.S.) went 3-1 as
the Grizzlies defeated Rose-Hulman and Purdue-Calumet last week and has been
named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of
the Week. In Franklin's 5-4 win over Rose-Hulman, Wareham earned a 7-5,
3-6, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles and suffered an 8-2 defeat at No. 1 doubles.
In a 9-0 sweep of Purdue-Calumet, Wareham posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at the top
singles position and teamed with Ryan Hammer for an 8-1 win in doubles.
Franklin (4-4, 2-1 HCAC) will travel to Bluffton for a league match
Saturday.
