DEFIANCE, Ohio — The Earlham College men's track team competed in the Defiance College Invitational to begin the season on Saturday.
Marq Dixon (Indianapolis, IN, Pike) led the way for the Quakers with a leap of 39'7½" to finish fifth in the triple jump.
Zander Ansara (Carlisle, MA, Concord Carlisle) was sixth in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.18 seconds.
The distance medley squad of Max Yang (Cupertino, CA, Cupertino), Robert Awkward (Natick, MA, Natick), Duncan Barber (Brooklyn, NY, Brooklyn Tech) and Johnny Razende-Shalom (Van Nuys, CA, Bridges to Learning) were fourth in 12:23.60.
Ansara, Corey Hammond (Franklin, OH, Franklin), Greg Valentin (Miami, FL, Mater Academy) and Junior Jean (Miami, FL, Mater Academy) teamed up to finish sixth in the 800-meter relay with a time of 1:42.24.
Earlham finished seventh, while Case Western Reserve University won the 8-team event.
The Quakers participate in the Anderson University Invitational next Saturday at 3 p.m.

Emma Hauser (Athens, OH, Athens) led the Quakers by winning the 5,000-meter run with a time of 20:30.90.
Zoe Wolfe (Greentown, IN, Eastern) had the next best individual finish as she tied for fourth by clearing 4'10½" in the high jump.
In the distance medley, Hanna Klondaris (Warsaw, IN, Culver Academy), Kate Birdsall (Georgetown, ME, Morse ), Giana Cirolia (Oakland, CA, Berkley) and Emma Jenkins-Sullivan (Florence, MA, Northampton) took second with a time of 15:51.99
Overall, the Quakers were seventh in the 8-team affair, while Case Western Reserve University won the meet.
Earlham competes in the Anderson University Invitational next Saturday at 3 p.m.
