RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College women's basketball team ended 2012 on Tuesday
with an 85-72 loss to St. Mary-of-the-Woods College.
Bria Sneed led the Quakers with 23 points and five steals in the non-conference
contest on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
JaLissa Watt tossed in 18 points, while Kasin Spay contributed nine points.
Charvonne Long and Karmell Brown each grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds for the
Quakers. Emily Sells handed out four assists.
The Pomeroys (3-9) jumped out to a 15-9 advantage by the 13:54 mark of the opening
The Quakers were able to answer and eventually tie the game at 15-15 when Long
scored at 12:21.
Spay scored with 12:00 remaining to give the Quakers their first lead at 17-15.
The score was tied several more times before Spay scored to give the Quakers at
24-23 lead with 7:51 left in the first half.
St. Mary-of-the-Woods scored the next 11 points as the Pomeroys would built a 39-27
advantage by intermission.
In the second half, the Quakers fought back into the contest and trailed 52-49 after
Sneed scored with 10:21 remaining.
A nine-point run allowed the Pomeroys to gain a 61-49 edge with 6:50 left.
From that time, the Quakers were able to cut the deficit to 68-60 when Sneed hit a
jumper with 4:36 to go.
Earlham (1-10) returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 2. The Quakers entertain the
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference
contest at 7:30 p.m.
