Rose-Hulman's Anna Lewer Named HCAC Volleyball MVP

(Indianapolis, Ind./Lutheran) has been selected as the 2012 Heartland
Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball Most Valuable Player. Lewer
helped guide the Engineers to a third place finish in the league standings
with a 7-2 mark against conference opponents.
Manchester University's Sarah Pruden (Noblesville, Ind./H.S.) has been
honored as the 2012 HCAC Freshman of the Year, Hanover College's Kylie
Justus (Crawfordsville, Ind./H.S.) claimed the 2012 Defensive Most Valuable
Player honor, and Defiance head coach Brie Brenner picked up her first HCAC
Coach of Year Award.
Lewer played in 113 games for the Engineers this season and averaged 3.42
kills per set to rank second in the conference. The senior posted a .285
hitting percentage and added 21 service aces, 53 total blocks, and ranked
ninth in the league with 3.58 digs per set during RHIT's 30 matches. The
Indianapolis, Indiana native averaged 3.74 kills (2nd in HCAC) and 3.41 digs
per set (10th in HCAC) with a league-best .339 hitting percentage during
conference matches this season.
Justus, the Panthers' junior defensive specialist, was the backbone of the
Hanover defense all season. She ranked second in the conference with a 5.56
digs per set average during conference play and posted a 6.01 average in all
contests (1st in HCAC). During Hanover's 32 matches, Justus totaled 691
digs on the year. This is the second-straight HCAC Defensive MVP honor for
Justus.
Manchester's Sarah Pruden averaged a league-best 3.67 kills per set with 17
aces, 41 blocks, and a 2.76 digs per set average in her first collegiate
season. She averaged 3.57 kills per set in league play, ranking third in
the HCAC in that category.
Brenner guided the Yellow Jackets to a fourth place finish in the league
standings with a 6-3 mark. In her first season at Defiance, Brenner led the
Jackets to an appearance in the HCAC tournament semifinals and ended the
season with an 18-13 record.

Napoleon, Ohio), Hanover College's Sarah Quebe (Sr., Indianapolis, Ind.),
Mount St. Joseph's Jaclyn Stenger (Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio), Nicole Sherpensky
(Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio), and Bethani Ritter (Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio),
Rose-Hulman's Sarah Jensen (Fr., Overland Park, Kan.), and Transylvania
University's Meghan Bowers (Jr., Louisville, Ky.) and Sarah Jonas (Fr.,
Lowell, Ind.).
