Field Hockey 
RICHMOND, Ind. — It came down to a shootout. 

The Earlham College field hockey team battled through a pair of overtimes and then a
shootout on Friday as the Quakers fell 2-1 to Oberlin College in Darrell Beane
Stadium. 

The North Coast Athletic Conference match was tied 1-1 after regulation. In the
shootout, Christine Ferguson scored to start the series of five attempts by each
team. Kate Birdsall scored Earlham's other goal during the shootout. 

Oberlin (3-7, 2-7) scored three times, including on a penalty shot that was awarded
after Earlham goalkeeper Emma Treece had apparently stopped a shot attempt. 

None of the goals or saves count in the official stats with Oberlin being awarded a
team goal for the entire shootout. 

The Yeowomen scored in the first half at 18:04 to grab a 1-0 advantage by
intermission. 

Earlham's Neo Khalema tied the match at 52:35 of the second period with an assist
from Bailey Heinzen. 

Treece had eight save for the Quakers, while Birdsall and Sam Bielinski each had a
defensive save. 

The Quakers (0-12, 0-10) entertain the College of Wooster on Saturday. The NCAC
contest gets underway at 1 p.m. 

Volleyball 
RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College volleyball team fell to Manchester University
25-11, 25-18, 25-17 on Friday night. 

Eunice Onyekweli and Morgan Thompson led the Quakers with four kills each in the
Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Schuckman Court in the Athletics
and Wellness Center. 

Ashley Hedrick, Ashlee Heberger and Meg Huffmeyer added three kills apiece against
the Spartans (11-13, 2-4). 

Heberger led Earlham with 15 assists. Kazondra Ramos, Heather Hayden and Keely
Skehan each finished with six digs. 

Earlham (5-16, 0-7) returns to action at home on Wednesday against Bluffton
University. The HCAC contest is at 7 p.m. 

Men's Cross Country 
WILMINGTON, Ohio — The Earlham College men's cross country squad participated in the
Wilmington College Fall Classic on Friday. 

Simon Conrad led the Quakers with a time of 27:29.87 on the 8K course to finish
122nd in the field of 34 teams. 

The other runners to score for the Quakers were: 
• Johnny Razende-Shalom, 267th in 29:52.36. 
• Max Yang, 283rd in 30:08.09. 
• Charlie Boyd, 294th in 30:27.73. 
• Keith Runyan, 297th in 30:36.41. 

Ashland University won the event with the Quakers finishing 28th. 

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship is the next meet on the
schedule for the Quakers on Saturday, Oct. 27. The event begins at 11 a.m. 

Women's Cross Country 
WILMINGTON, Ohio — The Earlham College women's cross country team competed in the
Wilmington College Fall Classic on Friday. 

Olivia Thornburg topped the Quakers with a time of 20:34.54 in the 5K race to finish
in 94th place. 

The other runners to score for the Quakers were: 
• Maddie Fega, 175th in 21:31.71. 
• Emma Jenkins-Sullivan, 193rd in 21:48.48. 
• Hannah Santino, 267th in 23:21.23. 
• Giana Cirolia, 305th in 24:44.79. 

The 33-team event was won by Ashland University as the Quakers finished 26th. 

Next up for the Quakers is the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship
on Saturday, Oct. 27. The meet starts at 11 a.m.
