Home » Boys Track & Field NewsCardinal's Rachford breaks own school record, Boys 4th at New London InviteApril 27, 2011 Cardinal High SchoolAJ Rachford has now run the 400 low hurdles twice since his sophomore year, both times breaking a school record. Rachford bested his own record set last week on the same track going 55.41 last night at the New London Invite. Rachford currently has the 2nd fastest time in the district, and the 3rd fastest time in class 2A. Cardinal's sprint relays also had a good night, winning the 4 X 100, 4 X 200, and 4 X 400. The 4 X 100 relay team of Sid McMartin, Marcus Giltner, Brandon Warren, and Rachford placed first in a time of 44.84. The 4 X 200 relay team of McMartin, Warren, Giltner, and Rachford won in a time of 1:34.29. The 4 X 400 relay team of Jimmy Edwards, McMartin, Giltner, and Tyler Goodell won in a time of 3:50.34. "We started out in front in the 4 X 400, and Tyler ran probably the best 400 of his track career in holding off both Winfield and WACO on the last leg to secure the victory." stated Comet coach Darren Hill. "I am pleased with the efforts that the guys are giving each meet. We were stagnate in our times for the last couple of weeks, and last night they came down again. We are still not where we want to be, but we are gaining and hopefully we are at our best during districts." Trevor Kayser jumped 5 - 10 to earn a 2nd place victory in the high jump, and McMartin took 2nd in the 100 dash with a time of 11.68. "Trevor has been getting 5 - 10 all year long, and he will hit 6 - 0 or higher in the next couple of meets." stated Hill. The Comets will compete at the Ekstrand Relays in WACO on Thursday night, and then the 4 X 100 team will compete at the Drake Relays on Friday.
