WAUKEE — The Ottumwa boys track team finished third the Warrior Relays in Waukee on Tuesday with 100 points. The host Warriors won the event with 168 points. The Bulldogs and head coach Jim Nickerson missed out on second place by just a half point as Des Moines Lincoln tallied 100.5 points.

Ottumwa senior Kevin Lewis won two events – the 800 and 1,600. He set the meet record in the mile (4:30.01) and ran a 2:00.08 in the 800.

Ottumwa also won the 4x400 with the team of Zach Messer, Taylor Brown, Spencer Hammack and Tim Bunch. The team ran a 3:30.11.

Ottumwa’s 4x200 of Brandon McCall, Ben Kramer, Hammack and Bunch placed runner-up in 1:31.62. The Bulldogs 4x100 team of McCall, Kramer, Quinn Vesely and Hammack crossed the tape in second place in 44.1.

Kramer finished third in the 100 run (11.19) and Bunch was third in the high jump (5-10). Cody McConnell ran to a third-place finish in the 3,200 run in 10:27.03.

Ottumwa’s 4x800 team of Messer, Danton Irelan, Tyler Cobler and Lewis finished third in 8:26.67.

Ottumwa competes in the CIML Metro Conference meet at Des Moines Hoover Thursday.
