OXFORD — Paige Schreiner belted three home runs in two games and finished with seven total RBI as the seventh-ranked (Class 5A) Ottumwa softball team took a pair of wins over ranked smaller schools at the Creekside Classic, hosted by Clear Creek Amana on Saturday.

The Bulldogs took a 10-0, five-inning victory over Iowa City Regina, ranked third in Class 2A, then followed with an 11-5 victory over Mid-Prairie, ranked second in Class 3A.

The Bulldogs took advantage of stong winds blowing to the outfield, as Schreiners three homers were joined by a home run by Alexis Winn in the second game.

Brittini Vogt earned her first win of the season on the mound against Regina, allowing four hits and fanning five batters in the shutout. Sammy Garrett and Morgan Heckart each hit doubles for Ottumwa while Olivia Roark tripled. The Bulldogs broke the game open with six runs in the fourth inning on five hits, capped by four consecutive hits by Sydney Strunk, Chelsea Griffiths, Nicole Peyton and Garrett.

Schreiner and Winn hit back-to-back homers in the fourth inning in the 11-5 win over Mid-Prairie. Five of Schreiner’s seven RBI came in game two. Garrett added three hits with Olivia Roark, Scheiner, Winn, and Sydney Strunk adding two each.

Mandi Moore earned her third win of the season on the mound, allowing eight hits and three walks through seven innings, fanning eight batters.

The Bulldogs (5-0) will host Ames in a doubleheader Tuesday.
