DES MOINES — A goal met and victories achieved.
That is what the Ottumwa boys and girls bowling teams were able to accomplish on Thursday at AML Lanes against Des Moines North.
The Ottumwa boys bowling team (6-0) hit its goal of 3,100 with a team score of 3,154 — over 500 pins than the Polar Bears. The OHS girls team (5-1) walloped North by over 700 pins with a team total of 2,620.
The Ottumwa boys were led by freshman Austin Palmer’s 220. OHS senior Tyler Ollom shot a 214 average. Bullog junior Isaac Goodman (208), Anthony Roberts (197), Alan Brady (197) and Joey Lee (176) rounded out Ottumwa’s scoring.
The Ottumwa girls squad was led by Payton Wilbanks’ 191. Sierra Lennie finished with a 181 average, as did Michael Malloy. Ali Salter averaged 176, Lynissa Lasley a 174 and Sydney Swallow a 141. OHS head coach Doug Techel mentioned his squad did not have a good baker game, something he said they need to work on.
Sybil Lennie paced the OHS junior varsity team with a 191. Kolten Fountain’s 209 average was the top score for the OHS boys JV squad.
Ottumwa hosts Des Moines Lincoln at Champion Bowl Thursday, Jan. 19 at 3:30 p.m.
