Ke’Veon Young and a stout Belmont High School defense led the Bison to a 20-6 football win over Ponitz on Thursday.

Young rushed 21 times for 204 yards and three touchdowns, his longest a 41-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Belmont plays Meadowdale on Oct. 4. Ponitz plays Dunbar on Oct. 5.

Boys golf

Division II Sectional at Pipestone: Oakwood dominated, winning the event with a 292, beating second-place Alter by 10 strokes. Eaton and Chaminade Julienne were third and fourth and qualified for district.

Tripp French and Alex Marquis led Oakwood, each shooting 72. Austin Wells and Jack Kegelmeyer each shot 74.

Chance Taylor led Alter with a 72. Cameron Willis of Eaton also shot 72.

GWOC tournament: Ryan Wenzler shot 70 to lead Centerville at Beechwood. The Elks were first in the team results with 299. Springboro was second, followed by Beavercreek, Miamisburg and Troy.

Matt Kern of Springboro and Shawn Downing of Vandalia tied for second, each shooting 73. Austin Sipe of Centerville was fourth with a 74. Ryan Flick of Beavercreek was fifth with a 75.

Boys soccer

Oakwood 2, Valley View 1: Bryan Koenig scored with four minutes left for Oakwood (8-2-2). Dan Gardner finished with two assists.

Brookville 4, Eaton 1: Brandon Lingenfelter had two goals and an assist for Brookville (7-4-2).

Girls soccer

Valley View 3, Oakwood 2: Samantha Combs of Valley View scored with an assist from Alyssa Howell with 19 minutes left in the game to give the Spartans the lead.

Volleyball

Miami East 3, Lehman Catholic 1: The No. 1 team in the state Divsion III poll defeated the No. 2 team in Division IV.

Abby Cash had 18 kills, 3 aces, 10 digs and 18 assists for Miami East (17-0).

Alter 3, Roger Bacon 1: Mary Rodehaver had 42 assists and four aces for Alter (10-7).

Oakwood 3, Valley View 1: Elle Wilson had 18 kills, seven blocks for Oakwood (12-5). Rachel Ness had 18 digs and five aces and Shannon O’Connor had 52 asssists, three aces.

Ponitz 3, Belmont 0: Ponitz went undefeated in Dayton City League Play.

Mercedes Jones had 17 kills, eight aces; Lauren Littlejohn nine aces, 11 kills and Rayshawn Young 16 assists, eight aces.
