Home » Girls' Basketball NewsSpurlock's 37 not enoughFebruary 22, 2013 Hamilton High SchoolDespite a record-breaking 37-point effort from senior guard, Jillian Spurlock, the Big Blue came up short against #2 seeded Princeton, 51-44, in the 2nd round of the state tournament on Thursday night. In a game of 7 lead changes and 4 ties, the Vikings were the ones who were victorious in the end. Spurlock shot 54% from the field, connecting on 13 of 24 shots. She also hit 4 of 6 from the 3 pt. line and was a perfect 7 of 7 from the charity stripe. Spurlock also did her job on the defensive end, grabbing 7 rebounds and blocking 2 shots.
"We gave Princeton all they could handle. We competed, played with heart, and put ourselves in a position to win at the end. Unfortunatlely, the cards weren't stacked in our favor the last minute of the ball game," said Coach Jill Meiring. "Jillian was phenomenal tonight. She left everything on the court and I'm so proud of everything she's accomplished this year. She's a special player and person."
