Big Blue drops season opener
November 25, 2012Hamilton High School
Despite a 27 point performance by senior guard, Jillian Spurlock, the young Big Blue squad was under-matched against rival Seton High School, losing it's season opener 55-43. After a slow start, the Big Blue were able to claw themselves back into the game by half-time, trailing by 8 points. A Spurlock 3-pointer to start the 3rd quarter was the closest Hamilton would get, as Seton outscored the Blue 16-11 to finish the quarter.
"Our youth showed tonight", said first-year Coach Jill Meiring. "While we have good senior leadership, we're still playing a lot of freshmen and sophomores. Our problems are fix-able, though, and I expect that we're learn from this game and keep improving."
Hamilton plays their next game this upcoming Friday at Edgewood (Trenton).
